Monday, I got to work and Rhoda, our couldn’t-live-without-her-assistance-ever receptionist was putting red, white and blue (can you sense the theme?) balloons on my desk. Really cute. Made me smile.
Then, had a meeting with a rep from Formula 1 magazine, somewhat entertaining, but when I got back, the girls had covered my desk in balloons and Barbie “Happy Birthday” banners. I had a big bouquet of flowers (stargazer lilies and roses if anyone cares) on my desk and this awesome chocolate mousse cake that one of the girls, Mayada (who will be leaving us shortly for culinary school in Paris) made. Mila had drawn cards of the Chicago skyline and all my favorite Chicago sporting teams…Bulls, Sox, Cubs and who can forget my NU Wildcats? Again, really cute. They sang, put lots of candles in the cake and then we had dessert! Soo good. After that, we all went out for lunch at the Dubai Marina…Johnny Rockets in keeping with the all-American theme.
In the afternoon, work got kind of hectic, but Crissy had planned a little after-work get-together. We ended up in the hotel bar next door until about midnight…after which I proceeded to have a few more cocktails with this random Canadian guy I met out a few weeks ago. Good times…and now the countdown to 30 begins!
